Lifespan of a blog

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. This seems to be the most common opening line to blogs.

As you can see I'm a relative newcomer to the world of blogging, although I've known of their existence for quite some time, however in my short time as a blogger I've discovered a general fact. People start with good intentions to write everyday but actually end up giving up after a matter of months - I wish I knew the actually statistic for that. I've just looked it up, Jim McLennan suggests on the BBC website that the average lifespan of a blog is nine months. To be honest, I thought that was quite long. He qualifies this by stating that the first two months is when people tend to post everyday and then after that they get bored, again I found that amazing. I can't imagine I'll be posting on here every day until the new year ... in fact I've already proven myself correct by not posting yesterday.

Anyhow, we'll see how long I keep this up for, I'm thinking a month. I'm also thinking there'll be a direct correlation between the lifespan of my blog and that of my girlfriend's. She's very competitive and doesn't like losing. There's reason enough alone to keep this going until after she's given up!

Perhaps your blog will last as long as the relationship with your girlfriend? ;)
